The Chicago Bears will hold a special place for Case Keenum. The 38-year-old backup QB stepped in and put on an offensive clinic against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night.
He went 11-for-11 against the Eagles' blitz defense, threw for 249 yards, and scored two touchdowns in a 27-7 win.
Watching were Packers fans. Many of them were featured on Instagram, crashing out at what they saw Keenum doing. A performance that was very Tom Brady-like.
“Feeling like Tom Brady,” the Packers fan said.
Overall, Keenum completed 24 out of 34 pass attempts. In the process, Keenum achieved a feat that Brady had done four times before. He was one of three QBs to throw for 38+ yards and score multiple touchdowns in a 20+ point victory. The other was Drew Brees in 2018 with the New Orleans Saints.
The Bears are now 2-1 and just handed the Eagles their first loss in dramatic fashion. Since 2012, Keenum has been a journeyman throughout the NFL.
He was undrafted in 2012 and then picked up by the Houston Texans. Keenum later played for several teams, including the Rams, Bills, and Browns.
Going into Monday Night, the Bears are still missing Caleb Williams. On Sept.20, Williams injured his hamstring and had to be taken out of the game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears lost 9-3.
Chicago will stay home to face the New York Jets on Sunday at 12:00 pm CST/1:00 pm EST.
On Sunday, Oct. 11, the Bears and Packers will meet for the first time this season at Lambeau Field at 3:25 pm CST/4:25 pm EST.
