Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors notched their first win of the preseason, easily disposing of the Los Angeles Lakers, 124-98, at Chase Center on Tuesday.

Curry had 16 points, including two four-point plays, two rebounds, and five assists in 14 minutes, while Yaxel Lendeborg tallied 17 points, nine rebounds, and two assists in 21 minutes.

Before the tipoff, Curry paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Don Nelson. He also gave an encouraging message to the Golden State Valkyries, who will host the Las Vegas Aces in Game 2 of their best-of-five semifinals series on Wednesday.

The Valkyries drew first blood against the Aces, winning Game 1, 71-60, at Michelob ULTRA Arena on Sunday. Gabby Williams led the way with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, while Kaitlyn Chen added 11 points and three rebounds off the bench.

The Valkyries have a strong chance to advance to the WNBA Finals in their second season.

The 38-year-old Curry has been an ardent supporter of the Valkyries, frequently watching them at Chase Center.

The Warriors are hoping to have a strong run as well in the upcoming season, with the two-time MVP back in full health after recovering from a knee injury.

They dropped their first assignment in the preseason, bowing to the Los Angeles Clippers, 104-101, in Hawaii on Sunday. Curry had 10 points, two rebounds, and two assists in 13 minutes.

The Warriors will take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.
