India Under-19 315 (Biswas 73, Yashbardhan 52, Green 7-110, Vaseo 2-72) and 11 for 0 beat Australia Under-19 174 (Henderson 37, Baloda 6-32, Akram 2-45) and 151 (Cattle 63, Baloda 8-41, Priyanshu 2-25) by ten wickets
It was the Tanmay Baloda show in Ahmedabad, the Haryana left-arm spinner returning a match haul of 14 for 73 to run through Australia Under-19 and set up a dominant ten-wicket win for India Under-19 in the second four-day match. The result gave India a 2-0 series sweep, to follow a 3-0 scoreline in the one-day series, after they had won the first four-day game by an innings and 48 runs in Rajkot.
Wednesday's third day began with India in front but Australia in a position to put up a fight. But at 86 for 4 in their second innings after conceding a 141-run first-innings lead, they had to get a couple of big partnerships and, ideally, a couple of their batters to bat big. Instead, they came up against Baloda, who sent back Zed Hollick and Charlie Henderson back within the first four overs of the day.
It got worse for Australia very soon after that as Priyanshu Singh, the right-arm medium pacer, sent back Jacob Pietz and Thomas Vaseo, and then it was over to Baloda again. He first sent back the No. 10, Patrick Sullivan, and then finished off the innings with the wicket of Australia's best batter of the innings, Blake Cattle, who scored 63.
Baloda had 8 for 41 for the innings to go with his 6 for 32 in the first. All after coming into the side only as a late replacement for the suspended Rohit Yadav.
The 11-run target took India five balls to knock off, with Lakshya Raichandani smacking two fours in the first over, bowled by Spencer Green.
Earlier, after being asked to bat, Australia rolled over for 174 in 73 overs, and India responded with 315 on the back of half-centuries from Yashbardhan Chauhan, the captain, and Abhipray Biswas, the wicketkeeper-batter. Queensland's Green was the standout bowler for Australia, picking up 7 for 110 with his legspin.
With Australia's second innings not even going as far as their first one did, it was one-way traffic on the third morning, the match finishing sooner than anticipated thanks to Baloda.
