The Los Angeles Lakers dropped to 1-1 in the preseason after getting blown out by the Golden State Warriors, 124-98, at Chase Center on Tuesday.

The Lakers allowed the Warriors to shoot 51% from the field. They trailed by as much as 38 points. They had an awful start, getting outscored in the first quarter, 45-31.

Los Angeles played without Luka Doncic, who suited up in their win over the Sacramento Kings, 127-103, at Golden 1 Center on Monday. Austin Reaves, Walker Kessler, and Collin Sexton have yet to play in the preseason.

Coach JJ Redick pinpointed what exactly went wrong against the Warriors.

“The way we started that game was insane. I don't know the reasons why, because this group has been awesome for the two months I've been around them. It's unacceptable,” said Redick in the postgame conference.

“The first half was unacceptable. I thought (with) the group that started the second half, we got back to our physicality defensively, and Adou (Thiero) and Jake (LaRavia) particularly were really good in that stretch.”

Mamukelashvili had 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists. LaRavia tallied nine points, three rebounds, and three steals, while Thiero added seven points and four rebounds. Grimes had 12 points and three assists.

In training camp, Redick reiterated the importance of establishing an identity on both ends of the floor and staying in shape.

The Lakers will have a rematch with the Kings on Thursday.
