The Golden State Warriors are currently gearing up to begin the regular season in less than two weeks. The Warriors are looking to defy the doubters this year after returning the exact same roster as last year, save for the addition of Yaxel Lendeborg.
Recently, the Warriors received the tough news that big man Kristaps Porzingis was once again dealing with a mysterious health issue that has kept him out of the preseason up to this point.
Now, ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel has delivered the latest update on that front.
“His illness and health is just continuing to pop up… I've been told that Golden State is bracing for Porzingis to miss the start of the season… there's just no word on what his timetable looks like or how long he's going to be out,” said Siegel, per ClutchPoints on X, formerly Twitter.
Many fans were puzzled when the Warriors opted to bring Porzingis back on a lucrative extension this offseason despite his health issues still being a major concern, dating back to his days with the Boston Celtics and continuing last year on the Atlanta Hawks and then the Warriors when he was traded there.
Article Continues BelowWhen on the court, Porzingis seemingly fits well next to Stephen Curry and company as a stretch five who can expand the floor and protect the rim, but his availability is about the furthest one can get from a sure thing, and that's not even to mention the other injury issues Golden State is facing heading into this season.
In any case, the Warriors are slated to get their new regular season underway on October 21 with a road game vs the Los Angeles Lakers.
