Atlanta Dream star guard Allisha Gray received a questionable designation for Friday’s WNBA semifinals Game 3 vs. the New York Liberty as she continues recovering from a left hand injury.
The Dream injury update gives Atlanta a chance to regain its leading scorer with the team one victory from the WNBA Finals. ESPN’s Alexa Philippou took to X, formerly Twitter, Thursday evening with the latest on the four-time All-Star guard’s availability ahead of Friday’s matchup in Brooklyn.
“Atlanta Dream star Allisha Gray is listed as QUESTIONABLE for tomorrow's semifinals Game 3 in New York”
Gray injured her shooting hand during Sunday’s Game 1 win at State Farm Arena. She left in the first quarter, returned with two fingers taped and then aggravated the same hand while diving for a loose ball before halftime.
The veteran guard finished with seven points in 11 minutes and did not return. Head coach Karl Smesko ruled her out of Wednesday’s Game 2 after an X-ray and follow-up examination, calling her day-to-day.
The Dream still won 101-98 in overtime without Gray to take a 2-0 series lead. Angel Reese and Jordin Canada scored 23 points apiece, while Canada added eight assists.

The 31-year-old had also averaged 22.0 points through Atlanta’s two first-round playoff games against the Washington Mystics before suffering the injury on Sunday.
Friday’s questionable designation represents an upgrade from Game 2, but it does not guarantee Gray will play. Atlanta can reach their first WNBA Finals since 2013 with a win at Barclays Center.
