Week 5 brings an intriguing matchup for USC football at home against Washington, one week after Lincoln Riley's defense was shredded by Oregon, and called out by a former player. Mosley joined Alex VanSumeren on the injury report ahead of Week 5's game, with his chances to play trending downward.
Pete Thamel of ESPN revealed the news that Mosley is doubtful for the Washington game, a huge blow to a USC offense with a big load to shoulder going forward.
“USC's Trent Mosley is doubtful again for USC,” Thamel wrote. “Jahkeem Stewart is probable after debuting against Oregon last week. TE Mark Bowman remains questionable.”
Article Continues BelowMosley is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound speed merchant who has brought up memories of USC legends with his stellar play so far this season. Undersized but hard to stop, Mosley has 13 receptions for 255 yards and four touchdowns so far this season for coach Riley's team.
The Mosley news came as Riley commented on Desman Stephens, who celebrated a huge illegal hit that knocked Dante Moore out of last week's loss to the Ducks. Riley's time at USC seems limited based on recent reports that his tenure could follow James Franklin's with the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Riley and the Trojans are well aware of the championship expectations that come with the territory in Los Angeles. The Trojans are running out of time to make them a reality, and Mosley's injury is just the latest setback in a long line of them that shows little if any sign of slowing anytime soon.
