Last month in Sept. 2026, Netflix finally confirmed the upcoming fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. After months of confusion and rumors, the “Battle of Britain” was confirmed to take place later this year.
Fury vs. Joshua is now scheduled to take place on Dec. 11, 2026, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. However, after the announcement, a cold war began between Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn and Zuffa Boxing/UFC’s Dana White.
However, as the two continue to have their feud, Tyson Fury has now dropped an update on both his and rival Anthony Joshua’s future. Speaking to WSVN Miami, Fury opened up and claimed that while he looks forward to fighting, Joshua might be chasing his “final payday.”
“I never thought it would happen. I didn’t think he had the minerals to get in there with the GK [‘Gypsy King’], and he didn’t [previously]. Four or five times he turned the fight down. At the end of his career, now he wants a final payday. I’ll give it to him, no problem,” Fury said.
“[Fans] will see an end of an era. Me especially, I’m from the class of 2008 [as an amateur], Olympic year ’08. It’s been a long time; this fight’s been building for a very long time. What will they see? They’ll see legendary fighters throwing down in their late 30s like all the greats did before. Since time began, men have fought each other for a prize. Or for a victory. Or for whatever it might be. Respect. So there’s nothing different going on here. Just two modern-day gladiators throwing down. For pride, glory and a **** ton of money,” Fury further added.
Tyson Fury opens up about his boxing future
In the same interview, Fury shared a glimpse into his boxing future and claimed that he’s open to continuing to fight. Already two fights into 2026, Fury added, “I’m going to continue. I’ve got two fights left on my contract. I’ll finish the contract off and then probably sign another 10-fight deal. Who knows?” he added. “If the money’s right, sign another 10 fights, but they’ve got to be quick because I’m getting older. And when it’s gone, it’s gone. I’m coming up to fight No. 40.”
As of now, except for Fury’s comments, there have been no confirmations regarding his next fights.
