In Week 2, Jaguars cornerback/receiver Travis Hunter had only 31 defensive snaps. As expected, he got a lot more in Week 3.
Hunter was on the field for 45 defensive plays, in a game that featured his first career interception.
On offense, he continues to not do much. After getting six snaps in Week 2, he got only five in Week 3. He was targeted in neither game.
And so it seems as if the Jaguars are moving him toward being a full-time cornerback, and a very part-time receiver.
Whether that means he has accepted his apparent fate remains to be seen. He wants to play both sides of the ball. He wants to have the ball in his hands. And he seems to be concerned that, if he plays only defense and successfully locks down half of the field, he’ll rarely touch the ball.
Regardless, his long-term best interests could be best served by playing only defense. Especially since the Jaguars have a great collection of receivers.
