The Chicago White Sox have been one of the best stories in baseball this season. They have upset expectations and are now preparing to play the Houston Astros in the American League Wild Card Series. Chicago fell just short of winning the AL Central, but the ball club still reached the postseason. Munetaka Murakami and Miguel Vargas are among the stars who led the way for the White Sox this season. Vargas spoke to reporters before the series and shared his thoughts on playing with Murakami.

“I think we both have a really good relationship since day one,” Vargas told reporters before the series. “You know, he's a special guy. He's a guy that you want to be around and learning. His work ethic is unbelievable… He is a winner. He has won in Japan. He won WBC, and then he came here, and now we're in the playoffs.

“You know, but beside the field, I think I have a great conversation with him outside the field and some personal conversation then I will save with me, because that has helped me a lot. I think he's one of my best friends.”

Chemistry goes a long way toward finding success as a team during a long 162-game season. Vargas and Murakami clearly have quality chemistry. Overall, the team seems to play well together as well.

The White Sox will play the Astros in Houston on Tuesday in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series. First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM ET.
