Cam Ward is in the headlines for the wrong reasons once again after throwing game-sealing interception in the Tennessee Titans' 12-7 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon.
Ward is going through the second season of his NFL career with the Titans. Tennessee selected him first overall in the 2025 draft, hoping he can help them return to winning relevance.
However, his performances leave a lot for the team to desire. In the latest game, Tennessee attempted a comeback down 12-0 in the fourth quarter.
Ward got a touchdown within the last 15 minutes of regulation to make it a one-score game. In the final seconds, he had a major opportunity to win the game for his squad. However, he threw an interception in the end zone as New York defended homefield with a big win after losing Jaxson Dart for the regular season.
Ward reflected on his performance after the game, per reporter Terry McCormick. When reporters asked him about the interception in the final seconds, the young quarterback was defiant with his answer.
“I don’t think it was reckless. It just wasn’t a good ball,” Ward said.
How Cam Ward, Titans played against Giants
Cam Ward still has time to get things going as the Titans' starting quarterback. However, patience will wear thin as Tennessee needs to see progress from him this season.
Ward completed 23 out of 36 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown and an interception. Tony Pollard led the rushing attack with 17 carries for 74 yards while catching four passes for 22 yards.
Carnell Tate led the receiving corps with six catches for 58 yards. Meanwhile, Wan'Dale Robinson scored the lone touchdown as he finished with seven receptions for 57 yards.
The Titans will look to bounce back in their next matchup, remaining on the road. They take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4 as kickoff commences on Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. ET.
