With the Los Angeles Dodgers wrapping up the regular season before the playoffs, Game 162 ended with the club beating the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, 5-1. As the Dodgers will have a bye week in the postseason, awaiting their playoff journey in the NLDS, the last win of the regular season is an impressive one for manager Dave Roberts.

Aside from the aforementioned win on Sunday against the Giants being the 100th one of the season, it also marks Roberts' sixth season as a manager of a team that has been the victor of that many outings. He is the third manager in MLB history to do so, along with Joe McCarthy with the New York Yankees and Bobby Cox of the Atlanta Braves.

“Dave Roberts is now the third manager in baseball history to win 100 or more games in a season six times. He joins Joe McCarthy of the Yankees and Atlanta’s Bobby Cox,” MLB insider Bob Nightengale wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

While Los Angeles had their fair share of struggles towards the middle of the season, the Dodgers ended on a high note, going 16-7 in their last 23 games, as they now await the winner of the wild-card series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Braves.

“The Dodgers end the regular season on a tear, winning their 100th game,” Nightengale wrote on X. “They will open the postseason Saturday against the winner of the Philadelphia-Atlanta series.”

At any rate, this bye week for Los Angeles will be crucial as it's an opportunity for Roberts to finalize any roster choices and for the team to get healthy.
