A fan recently went too far while talking to Minnesota Timberwolves star Jonathan Kuminga, giving the NBA player the NSFW nickname “Kumbucket.”

He appeared to be leaving an arena when a fan yelled the nickname at him. Kuminga did not back down, directly saying, “Whoever said that, I'm gonna come find you and slap you,” to the person who said it.

Hopefully, the fan learns from this interaction. It's unlikely that anyone will continue to call him “Kumbucket” going forward; otherwise, he'll slap them.

Kuminga is entering his first season with the Timberwolves, signing with them in free agency. He signed a two-year, $12.4 million contract in September 2026 before the season began.

Before joining the T-Wolves, Kuminga played for the Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks. He was drafted by the Warriors with the seventh pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He started his professional career with the NBA G League Ignite in 2020 before being drafted. While with Golden State, he also played for the Santa Cruz Warriors.

His breakout came during the 2023-24 season. Kuminga started a career-best 46 games, playing in 76 total, and averaged a career-high 16.1 points per game. He also averaged 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

Injuries would hamper his final two seasons with the Warriors. He was traded to the Hawks during the 2025-26 season after playing in 20 games (starting 13) with the Warriors. In his lone half-season with the Hawks, Kuminga averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He only started one game, though, and played in 16 during this run.

He joins an absolutely stacked Timberwolves roster heading into the 2026-27 season. The team also acquired LaMelo Ball during the offseason, pairing him with Anthony Edwards and Ayo Dosunmu. Rudy Gobert and Donte DiVincenzo are also on the roster.
