The Dallas Mavericks are coming into the season with most of their players healthy, more specifically, Kyrie Irving. The Mavericks' guard missed all of last season as he rehabbed from a torn ACL he suffered the season prior, and he's ready to get back on the court and be the leader they need.

Before the start of last season, there were rumors that Irving would return toward the second half of the season, but it never happened. According to Irving, he had another injury that he was dealing with that set him back.

“Kyrie Irving reveals in Macao that he had a Grade 2 calf strain in December that set him back 8 weeks during his recovery from ACL surgery,” Mike Curtis of Dallas Morning News wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

That may have been the reason why Irving never returned last season, but the good news is that he didn't try to push to return. Calf strains have been tricky over the past few years, and they usually turn into something else if they're not treated properly.

Now, Irving is back fully healthy and ready to lead a young Mavericks' team, and he spoke about his desire of wanting to stay.

“I was talking to my family about this yesterday, just reminiscing on the change in the last few years and how it’s impacted me and how it’s impacted just Dallas in general and this fandom,” Irving said via Noah Weber of The Smoking Cuban. “I’m not going to shy away from saying it’s been a little chaotic at times, inside the locker room as well as outside… I feel like last year there was a game where P.J. [Washington] was shooting a free throw and it was a little tough on him to recalibrate after that because the fans were yelling and stuff, going back and forth.”
