On Saturday evening, the Minnesota Timberwolves fell back into the loss column with a tough road loss at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs. Victor Wembanyama was dominant for the Spurs in this one, scoring 43 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists in the win.
At one point in the game, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch could be heard voicing his displeasure at the referees' officiating of the Spurs star in NSFW fashion.
Finch isn't the only person who's taken issue with NBA officials' apparent favoritism of Wembanyama, as the Spurs star frequently leverages his defensive savant reputation in order to get away with blatant fouls and goaltending on the other end of the court.
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves now sit at 4-3 on the season, struggling a bit since the news dropped that Anthony Edwards would miss multiple months after going an operation on his knee.
LaMelo Ball suffered through arguably his worst game as a Minnesota player so far in this one, scoring ten points on just 2-10 shooting from the floor in 20 minutes of action. It remains to be seen how Ball will adjust to being unexpectedly thrust into the number one role for Minnesota in the wake of Edwards' injury.
While they have dealt with a rather difficult chunk of schedule of late, the Timberwolves will likely hope to just tread water in the Western Conference until Edwards is able to return, hopefully at 100 percent, later this season.
In any case, the Timberwolves are next slated to hit the floor on Monday evening at home vs the lowly Milwaukee Bucks. Tipoff is set for 8:00 pm ET.
