The Houston Texans have had a frustrating season thus far, recently losing at home to the New York Giants to stall their momentum and drop their record to 2-5 on the season. The Texans' defense has been underwhelming up to this point, not playing anywhere close to the historical dominance they put on display last year.
Recently, NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN broke down one member of the Texans' defense who could be on the move via a trade as the season presses on.
“(A) pass rusher who has generated some interest ahead of next Tuesday’s trade deadline is Houston defensive end Jadeveon Clowney,” reported Schefter on X, formerly Twitter.
Schefter had previously reported that “There is interest in Cardinals OLB Josh Sweat, per sources. A team to watch with Sweat is the Cowboys, who will get an up close look at him today, when Dallas hosts Arizona.”
Clowney was drafted number one overall by the Texans over a decade ago out of South Carolina, and the star pass rusher has gone on to have a solid career, bouncing around the league over the last few years before rejoining Houston this past offseason in free agency.
Article Continues BelowUnfortunately, Clowney has been one of the several Texans players on defense to underperform so far this year, but that doesn't mean his potential value on the trade market is fully shot, with his name recognition potentially playing a role in how much teams would be willing to give up for him.
In the meantime, the Texans will hit the field next week on the road vs the winless Los Angeles Chargers.
