The Missouri Tigers are now 6-2 and bowl-eligible after earning a 34-10 Week 9 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday. While the rushing game led the charge in this win, quarterback Austin Simmons may have caught NFL Draft scouts' attention with what could be a legitimate Throw of the Year.
On one play, the senior signal-caller did a great job reading the field in the pocket. He then delivered a deep ball down the middle of the field, with the ball landing right in Cayden Lee's hands. Somehow, Simmons avoided the defender draped over Lee for a big gain.
While the stats aren't the most impressive, Simmons still got the job done for the Tigers on Saturday. He ended the day with 179 passing yards and two touchdowns while completing 64.5% of his pass attempts. He targeted eight different teammates, connecting with six of them. Lee led the way in receiving with six receptions for 78 yards.
The 20-year-old has yet to declare for the 2027 NFL Draft, as he still has two years remaining of eligibility for college football. However, in ClutchPoints' latest 2027 NFL Mock Draft, the Missouri star was mocked to the Minnesota Vikings at pick No. 32 (draft projections based on Tankathon going into Week 8 of the NFL).
Through eight games played so far this season, Austin Simmons has accumulated 1,952 yards, 16 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He's also completing 63.3% of his pass attempts, which is on pace for a career-best. He's proven to be a reliable option in the pocket for Missouri since transferring from the Ole Miss Rebels in the 2026 offseason.
