Thursday horse racing tips

Ayr

  • 15:00 - Wild Thoughts 11/4 (1pt)

Yarmouth

  • 15:45 - Midnight Thunder 9/4 (1pt)

Pontefract

  • 15:38 - River Nile 5/4 (1pt)

Wild Thoughts

Saffie Osborne is having the best possible season, making history in British racing becoming the first female jockey to win a British Classic and also scooping plenty of big winners for various trainers.

Can't see past her mount Wild Thoughts for this, on the gelding who has placed close up twice in decent handicaps and only been given a 1lb rise for that.

That was the first two starts over 1m2f so this could be third time lucky in a seemingly easier contest.

Midnight Thunder

Dropped back to 6f which seemed to be the right move as opposed to going up in trip to the 1m and 7f contests he was seen at at Meydan and Southwell.

Went a good second at Thirsk when 13/2 and that return to form, while also being 5lb lighter than in October 2024.

So he should still be dangerously weighted for a big run here especially on his third run since a lengthy break.

River Nile

It looks to be a match between the front two of the market, both of whom seem incredibly close in form, having only small placings to look at.

But River Nile has placed third behind two very good horses which could show more potential going forward, which is why she's the big favourite here.

She was initially installed as an odds-on favourite but has drifted out to a much more backable 5/4 price.

She gets 5lb from the gelding Devil's Brigade who has placed second in his last two outings but his best form has been on the all-weather.
