After Oklahoma City Thunder GM Sam Presti confirmed Jalen Williams' season-ending surgery to repair a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle, Jaylin Williams revealed he stayed up late chatting with his teammate. Thunder's Cason Wallace will also undergo surgery soon on his left shoulder to repair a torn labrum.
Jaylin offered his support to Williams and Wallace, saying he stayed up texting Jalen into the wee hours the night of his devastating ankle injury, per Thunder reporter Andrew Schlecht.
“Honestly, the biggest thing is that I feel bad for Dub and Caso. With Dub and everything that he's going through. Of course we're close; we have the same name,” Williams said. “Me and Dub were texting until 2 AM last night just talking. Just randomly talking. Caso, when I came back last game, he was in the training room. He was the first person I saw. We smiled together.
“Just trying to help them stay positive. I know it's super tough when you wanna be out there with your teammates. You work the whole summer, however long, to get healthy, play, and just feel like everything goes to waste. Just trying to keep them to stay positive.”

Jaylin Williams and the Thunder defeated the Phoenix Suns 125-114 to improve to 4-0 on the regular season. Williams finished with six points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 26 minutes. In addition to losing Williams and Wallace, Oklahoma City also missed All-Star Chet Holmgren with a right knee injury.
After the win, head coach Mark Daigneault discussed what the previous 24 hours have been like for his team, as Thunder players got their chance to speak to both Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace before facing the Suns on Monday.
“It’s tough from a compassion standpoint. Those are guys that work so hard. They’re such great players. So, that was a tough pill,” Daigneault said. “The guys did a great job of appropriately honoring that and also getting themselves ready to compete; ready to play. They heard from Dub. They saw Cason. So, it allowed them to feel good about going out there and competing for the team.”
