Jalen Williams went down bad during the game against the Los Angeles Clippers after the star forward fractured his left fibula and dislocated his left ankle during the Oklahoma City Thunder's 108-101 win over the Clippers on Sunday.
Days after the visually gruesome injury, Williams shared a playful moment with his younger brother, Cody Williams. The photo showed the brothers relaxing together, with Jalen flipping off the camera with a cast on his lower leg while Cody appeared to make a playful gesture.
Jalen suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter after attempting a dunk and landing awkwardly. He was taken off the court on a stretcher, leaving teammates and fans concerned about his condition.
Thunder general manager Sam Presti later confirmed that Jalen would undergo surgery, with a clearer recovery timeline expected after the procedure. ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the forward could miss several months, potentially sidelining him for most or all of the 2026-27 season.
“BREAKING: Oklahoma City's Jalen Williams has a dislocated left ankle and fractured fibula; Cason Wallace has a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Both will undergo surgery and be sidelined for several months — most, if not the entire season,” Charania tweeted.
The 25-year-old averaged 17.1 points and 5.5 assists per game last season, although injuries limited him to 33 appearances. His absence represents a major challenge for the defending champions as they attempt to maintain their strong start.

“I have no doubt in my mind that he'll be back and be better than he was before,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.
