Even without a couple of key Philadelphia Eagles players on Sunday, Jalen Hurts delivered when it counted most against the Titans. And this eye-opening stat totally vindicates him after the Jeffery Simmons drama, according to a post on X by Benjamin Solak.

“Jalen Hurts had nine third-down conversions through the air on Sunday. NINE. Impressive quarterbacking performance in Game 2 of the Mannion offense.”

Hurts finished 26 of 37 passing for 264 with two touchdowns. He did have two interceptions, but the Eagles earned a tough 24-20 road victory.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts still showing chops

Hurts clapped back at Simmons for suggesting the Titans only needed to make him play like a true quarterback. The idea was that Hurts wouldn’t get the job done if that happened. But he did.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said the words don’t really matter, according to ESPN.

“I love our guys, so of course my natural instinct is, ‘Oh, I want to fight,’ ” Sirianni said. “But when you get wrapped into the battle of words or revenge or whatever it is, anger, that s— lasts about two minutes in a game. It does.

“At the end of the day, the fundamentals take over, the situational awareness takes over, you playing together as a team, your toughness takes over, because that all fades.”

And Simmons backed down after the fact.

“He's a Super Bowl MVP,” Simmons said. “That wasn't no shot at Jalen. The thing was if we could keep him in the pocket and eliminate him from scrambling and running, making him go sideways, we could be successful especially getting them to third down.

“We saw Jalen would try to make something happen downfield and take off running. You see it all over his tape. That was my point of making Jalen Hurts stay in the pocket and just be a quarterback. It wasn't, ‘Oh, he can't be a quarterback in the pocket.' ”

The main thing is Hurts has the Eagles sitting at 2-0 on the season. Both wins were tough, but so far it has been mission accomplished.
