The Atlanta Dream just got bad injury news
Center Brionna Jones will miss the rest of the season after sustaining a left leg injury last month.

Atlanta Dream center Brionna Jones will miss the rest of the WNBA season after sustaining a left leg injury against the Connecticut Sun on August 13, the team announced on Thursday. Jones missed the six games prior to the FIBA World Cup break, the latest setback in whatâÂÂs been a very injury-riddled campaign.
Jones suffered a meniscus injury playing in Prague in January, and the Dream announced in March that she had undergone surgery. She made her season debut on July 17th, but played just a few weeks before again going down with injury. In total, Jones has appeared in just 9 games this season for Atlanta, averaging 8.2 points and 5.6 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per game.
Brionna Jones is a major loss for the Dream
Last year, Jones played in all 44 games for the Dream and averaged 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds in 26.6 minutes a night en route to her fourth All-Star appearance. But the 30-year-old was never able to get into a groove this year.
Luckily for Atlanta, they have Angel Reese holding down the fort in the frontcourt. Reese has had a career season in Atlanta, averaging 16.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. Naz Hillmon has started alongside Reese, averaging 9.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
The late-season signing of DeWanna Bonner also gives the Dream more depth. Bonner, who made her Dream debut on August 30th, averaged 10.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game with the Phoenix Mercury this season before agreeing to a buyout and signing with the Dream.
Rookie center Madina Okot has also played some crucial frontcourt minutes; Okot has averaged 5.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 9.2 minutes per game off the bench. But thereâÂÂs no question about the fact that Jonesâ loss is a crucial one, especially with playoff action just a few weeks away.
