The Houston Texans fall to a 2-5 record on the season after suffering a tough 27-21 overtime loss to the New York Giants in Week 7. After appearing to finally right the ship in their previous two games, the defense just had no answers for J.J. McCarthy, Cam Skattebo, or Malik Nabers. With the NFL trade deadline approaching, is it time for the front office to make some changes? General manager Nick Caserio isn't quite ready to jump on board.
During a press conference on Monday, the 50-year-old claimed that the loss is not going to spark any “knee-jerk reactions” from himself or the front office. He stated that the Texans do not currently plan on making any “significant changes to personnel,” but did admit that players on the team right now are not meeting expectations.
“Some of our good players, our better players, probably haven't played how they're capable of,” Caserio said. “That's just the reality.”
Instead, the Texans' general manager wants to see the team “play more consistent football.” While that could ring true for nearly every team in the NFL, Houston's inconsistency has led to a 2-5 start on the campaign.

Although the club's rushing defense has been the one shining aspect of the defense, Houston has largely struggled against opposing offenses so far this year. Outside of rushing yards allowed per game (98.0), the defense ranks within the bottom half of the league in most defensive categories.
The Texans already made one trade this season after acquiring Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals. With the trade deadline on November 10, the organization may be involved in the rumor mill in the coming weeks.
