The Connecticut Sun have played their last WNBA game in the city after beating the Toronto Tempo 95-81 at home on Thursday night.
Connecticut got to see the franchise achieve considerable success for 23 years from 2003 to 2026 after originally starting in Orlando as the Miracle. They made four appearances in the WNBA Finals, losing in all attempts for the championship.
Following many successful years of being a playoff contender, the Sun say goodbye to the city. They will relocate to Houston as their name will change to the Comets. The franchise played its last game in Connecticut, ending with a win over the Tempo.
“The legacy is that we had a positive impact on a lot of people,” said Sun general manager Morgan Tuck, a former UConn and Sun player, via Associated Press. “It might be an end here but it is not an end to our team. It is not an end to our players and what they are trying to do on the court. I think you just try to work on both at the same time. You try to be appreciative of what we have here.”

How Sun played against Tempo
The Sun's final campaign ended without a playoff appearance. Despite this, they got to play the season finale at home and end it with a bang.
Five players scored in double-digits for Connecticut in the win. Ashlon Jackson led the team with 18 points, two assists and a rebound. She shot 6-of-11 from the field, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Raegan Beers came next with 17 points and eight rebounds, Aaliyah Edwards had 16 points and four rebounds, while Hailey Van Lith and Gianna Kneepkens scored 12 points each.
Connecticut concluded the 2026 campaign with an 11-33 record. They finish at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, being under the Tempo and the Chicago Sky.
The Sun's journey in the WNBA now looks forward to a new chapter. They wave goodbye to Connecticut as they pack up for their next destination in Houston as the Comets.
