In the first week of July, reports came out that New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson had undergone surgery on his left wrist. Brunson was playing through a left wrist injury towards the end of the 2025-26 season, which makes his performances in the NBA Finals (32.6 points, 4.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game) that much more impressive as he led the Knicks to a five-game series win over the San Antonio Spurs to snap a 53-year NBA title drought in the Big Apple.
On Thursday, the Knicks star delivered an update on his physical condition with training camp on the horizon (camp will begin on the 29th of September). Brunson's words should be music to Knicks fans' ears, as he said that he has fully recovered and that he should be ready for the start of camp.
“I am fully cleared,” Brunson said in a live episode of the Roommates Show podcast with teammate Josh Hart, via SNY Knicks on X.

Brunson went through so much wear and tear last season, suiting up in a total of 93 games (regular season and playoffs combined). As the focal point of the opposing team's defense, the Knicks star was also on the receiving end of a ton of pummeling on a nightly basis. His left wrist must have been getting hit every night as well, especially when he's not one to shy away from contact.
It will be interesting to see how the Knicks approach this upcoming season and whether or not they end up suffering some championship hangover.
Last season, Brunson averaged 26.0 points and 6.8 assists in 74 regular season games. The Knicks have good guard depth as well, with Miles McBride, Jose Alvarado, Jordan Clarkson, and Tyler Kolek all around to provide some quality minutes off the bench. Head coach Mike Brown does have options if he decides to reduce Brunson's workload after he averaged 35.0 minutes per game last season.
