Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving has made his long anticipated return to the court after missing the entirety of the 2025-26 season due to an ACL injury. And so far, he’s been phenomenal for the Mavericks, forming a solid one-two punch with budding star Cooper Flagg. Irving is without a doubt a future Hall of Famer, but for Steve Nash and LeBron James, the praise is greater than that.

During a recent episode of the ‘Mind The Game’ Podcast, LeBron James and Steve Nash discussed Kyrie Irving’s talent, while admitting their belief that the Mavericks guard is the most-skilled player in NBA history.

“I feel like Kyrie’s maybe the most, probably the most skilled player to ever play our game,” Nash said. “Just the breadth of skills, handling, shooting from all angles, finishing … he can play a long time just on that. But I think what makes him special is he’s one of the best movers … his quickness, his change of direction, deceleration, his ability to control his body air whether that’s shooting or finishing. Special, special athlete.”

James agreed with Nash’s sentiment regarding his former teammate. James and Irving won a championship together with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 after pulling off a 3-1 comeback against the Golden State Warriors.

This season, Irving has appeared in five games, at a little over 28 minutes per game. He’s averaging 21.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.2 steals with splits of 52.7 percent shooting from the field, 39 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 100 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
