The Green Bay Packers are hopeful to have defensive star Micah Parsons back in practice this week. Parsons has been waiting for months to be able to return to the team, after having surgery. Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon is commenting on how often he prepares to have Parsons back with his unit.
“Every day,” Gannon said about preparing for Parsons, per The Athletic.
Parsons tore his ACL near the end of the 2025 NFL season. That has left him sidelined for many months as he works his way back to health. Green Bay doesn't have a date listed for his return to games, but he is getting better.
The goal is for Parsons to soon be removed from the Physically Unable to Perform list.
“That would be the intention,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said, per the team. “Again, it's going to be a process trying to get him back, but we're hopeful. It's going to be dependent upon the next couple days, but we're hopeful he'll be able to get out there sometime this week.”
The Packers want to take it easy with Parsons. His injury was certainly significant, and the team is concerned about pushing him too hard.
Article Continues BelowThe team has 21 days to activate Parsons to the active roster, after he is able to start practicing.
“If I had a bet on it, it's going to be more towards the longer end (of the 21 days) than the shorter end,” LaFleur said.
Green Bay is 5-3 this season in the NFC North. The Packers next play the New England Patriots on Sunday. Time will tell when Parsons is back on the field with his Green Bay teammates.
