Is there a chance that iconic gymnast Simone Biles could return for the upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California?
It appears she is keeping her cards close to her chest, as she told the Associated Press (via ESPN). She wouldn't say which way she's leaning, but it does sound like her mind is made up.
“I'm like[,] ‘Oh my gosh, I don't know what the decision [is] I should make, but I don't necessarily have to make it just yet,” Biles said. “But I feel like it's kind of in the works which way I'm leaning towards.”
She acknowledged that competing would be “so much fun,” but at the same time, she has to “weigh the options.” After all, she will be 31 years old by the time the 2028 Olympics come around, which could play a factor.
Article Continues BelowBiles is looking to start a family with her husband, Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Owens, and that is another factor she is weighing.
“I am getting to the age of 30 where we start to talk about, ‘What does your reproduction cycle … what's going on in there? What does that look like? How healthy is it? And so I think these are major things that are on the table at my age that I have to take in consideration and weigh those options and what that looks like and when we want to start a family,” she explained.
Ultimately, she does get FOMO, especially since the Olympics will be held in Los Angeles. She said, “Like a home Olympic Games, like, how could you not? It's absolutely incredible.”
She has been on a hiatus since her performance in Paris in 2024. Biles is one of the most decorated female gymnasts in Olympic history.
