On Sunday, the Atlanta Braves made a brash decision, not starting Chris Sale for Game 2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The decision paid off, as the Braves took a 3-2 victory and evened the series. The offense struggled for the Dodgers, leading to manager Dave Roberts considering some lineup changes. That includes the possibility of dropping Shohei Ohtani from the lineup.

Now, some other potential changes to the lineup for Game 3 are being reported, according to Katie Woo of The Athletic.

The major changes noted by Woo were Kike Hernandez spending most of practice at third, while Migue Rojas was doing the same at second base.

“If you’re looking at (Tuesday) night, you’ve got Kiké, you’ve got Miggy Ro, you’ve got (Max) Muncy,” Roberts said. “We’ve got good options.”

Having to face Sale on the road with a best-of-five series tied at one game apiece is a massive task. Sale went 6.1 innings in Game 1 against the Philadelphia Phillies, giving up three runs as the Braves took the win. Meanwhile, he made a relief appearance in the win-or-go-home Game 3. He went 1.1 innings in that game, giving up just one hit as the Braves eliminated the Phillies with a 6-2 victory. Adding to the pressure for the Dodgers in this one, it will likely be Tyler Mahle on the mound for the Braves in Game 4. He has a 1.99 ERA since being acquired by the Braves.

Meanwhile, Roberts also spoke about the health and play of Ohtani.

“He’s not 100 percent. But at the end of the day, he can still do a better job of staying in the strike zone. Hitting homers, slugging, it’s part of (Ohtani’s) hallmark in the batter’s box,” Roberts said. “He’s very in tune with what’s being said, what he hasn’t done.”

Roberts also knows Ohtani needs to play well if the Dodgers are going to have a chance.

“Everything orbits around Shohei in the sense of his talent. And the Braves are going to enter with caution. And so, knowing that, they’re going to continue to expand as long as we keep giving that to them. So until we show some discipline, they’re going to continue to kind of use that playbook. … Trying to chase slug tomorrow night might not be the right plan, given the starter.”

The one move that may not be happening is the removal of Andy Pages from the lineup. He was benched during the World Series last year, and he is currently 0-for-7 at the plate in the playoffs.

“I’m gonna continue to give Andy leash,” Roberts said. “I believe in him. I feel that for us to win the World Series this year, we’re gonna need him to be an active part of our team. I hope it doesn’t get to that point. We’re not there yet.”

First pitch between the Dodgers and Braves is set for 6 pm ET on Tuesday.
