Playing on back-to-back nights and still delivering consecutive 40-point performances is a rare feat in the NBA, but it hardly seems extraordinary for Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic. The Slovenian sensation's remarkable showing this season also did not come as a surprise to NFL legend Shannon Sharpe.

During the latest episode of Nightcap, Sharpe explained that he had already recognized Doncic's superstar potential early in his career when the young guard repeatedly dominated the Los Angeles Clippers.

“This should have foreshadowed,” Sharpe said. “You saw him his first couple years what he was doing to the Clippers when they had all those defensive stoppers out there and nobody could stop him. He playing by himself.

“I mean, he's cooking Kawhi, he's cooking PG, he's cooking Pat Bev; there was not nobody that you could put on him. He's hitting step-back threes for game winners. I’m not surprised that he did this. Hell, he was going this as a 21, 22-year-old. I can just imagine what he’s going to do when he gets to be 26, 27. What he's doing right now.”

Doncic has never needed much time to remind the basketball world why he is considered one of the most naturally gifted players in the NBA. This season, the Lakers superstar is once again performing at an MVP-caliber level.

Through his first seven appearances, the Lakers guard has averaged approximately 38.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game.

One of the standout moments of Doncic's remarkable start came against the Toronto Raptors, where he exploded for 45 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists. The Slovenian followed that performance with another spectacular display against the Heat, finishing with 42 points, seven rebounds, and 13 assists.

With LeBron James no longer part of the Lakers' roster, Doncic has an opportunity to establish himself as the franchise's undisputed centerpiece. His performances so far show that he is fully embracing that responsibility.
