The Toronto Blue Jays have some big holes to fill in the outfield this offseason, and Ken Rosenthal believes Seiya Suzuki and Randy Arozarena would make plenty of sense as they look to plug them.
Speaking on Foul Territory, the MLB insider called Toronto “quite a logical fit” for Suzuki, the former Chicago Cubs slugger who is set to hit free agency.
“Certainly the Blue Jays, though, are a team that is quite a logical fit, a team that is almost certain to have interest if they haven’t expressed it already. Suzuki is a natural for them,” Rosenthal said. “It’s a team that is losing George Springer, a team that traded Daulton Varsho last year to the Houston Astros, so they have essentially two holes.”
Seiya Suzuki or Randy Arozarena would be GREAT fits in Toronto…

“Addison Barger eventually will come back, but the rest of their outfielders, it’s basically guys with promise or guys who are just kind of on a cusp of their careers, not really established players for the most part. Nathan Lukes is in there. It’s OK, but they need more,” Rosenthal said. “They know they need more. They were 19th in OPS from their outfielders last season. So for all those reasons, Suzuki would be a fit.”
He added that Arozarena, the Seattle Mariners outfielder and the other top bat on the outfield market, would also be a fit, saying, “I expect the Blue Jays to be active.”
The need is clear. Springer’s six-year contract expired after the season, and Toronto dealt Varsho to Houston for starting pitcher Spencer Arrighetti ahead of the August trade deadline. Barger, meanwhile, underwent season-ending elbow surgery in July after playing in just nine games.
Article Continues BelowSuzuki would bring a proven bat. The 32-year-old hit .270 with 26 home runs, 32 doubles and an .841 OPS in 2026, his fifth season with the Cubs.
Arozarena, a two-time All-Star, would add both power and speed to the lineup and has plenty of postseason experience dating back to his record-setting run with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2020.
Toronto could use the help after a disappointing campaign. The Blue Jays finished last in the AL East and missed the playoffs, and adding at least one impact outfielder would go a long way toward getting them back into contention in 2027.
