New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson issued a strong warning to the organization Tuesday amid its disappointing 1-4 start to the 2026 NFL season, making it clear that the team's recent struggles are unacceptable.

As the Saints prepare for their Week 6 road matchup against the New York Giants (3-1-1), Benson addressed the team's three-game losing streak during an appearance at the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club.

ESPN's Katherine Terrell shared Benson's comments Tuesday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“That is not acceptable to me,” Benson said regarding the Saints' 1-4 record.

Benson emphasized that accountability begins with ownership and extends throughout the organization, including the coaching staff, front office and players.

“I will not make excuses and I will not accept this level of performance as our standard,” Benson said.

The Saints owner also addressed the frustration surrounding the franchise's disappointing start, stressing that the organization must earn back the trust of its supporters through its performance on the field.

“Words will not restore our fan's confidence, our performance must do that,” Benson said.

Benson added that the franchise cannot take its fan base for granted, recognizing the loyalty supporters have shown throughout the team's 60-year history.

According to Terrell, Benson emphasized that Moore and his coaching staff are responsible for preparing the players, while Loomis and his front office must assemble a competitive roster. The players, meanwhile, are responsible for executing on the field.

NFL Daily's Gregg Rosenthal reacted to Benson's comments with a warning regarding the organization's leadership.

“Kellen Moore (and possibly Mickey Loomis) on notice,” Rosenthal wrote.
