Coach Kellen Moore's New Orleans Saints fell behind 24-7 after one half to the visiting Atlanta Falcons in a game that was punctuated with an Alvin Kamara turn-back-the-clock touchdown run. Well-experienced QB Tyler Shough attempted to lead the Saints offense back but it wasn't enough as they ran out of time, and lost Kamara, headed into the game's final minutes.

The Saints' PR account shared an update on Kamara as the game continued.

“Alvin Kamara (knee) is questionable to return,” the account wrote.

Kamara, the Saints' living legend of a running back, ran seven times for 23 yards and two touchdowns before exiting the game. Coach Moore's running game was mostly ineffective outside of short yardage carries as New Orleans struggled to keep pace with Atlanta's explosive Michael Penix Jr. led offensive attack.

The Saints were eaten up on the ground by the Falcons' dynamite duo of Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson Jr., who combined for over 150 yards as the fourth quarter wound down. Bijan Robinson outran everyone on his way to a long touchdown run in the first quarter that shocked tens of thousands of fans in Caesars Superdome.

Kamara is a shadow of his former All-Pro, first overall fantasy football pick self, but he still has some gas left in the tank after his two scores on Monday Night Football. The Saints need way more than 23 yards from their top running back next time around, a brutal truth the Falcons showed them in full living color. Shough's play is improving, but New Orleans must do something to improve their running game in Week 7, regardless of whether Kamara plays or not.
