The pressure appears to be mounting on Rutgers football head coach Greg Schiano. Schiano's seat is seen as on-fire, per On3. The Scarlet Knights have stumbled through the campaign so far.
“The Scarlet Knights lost to No. 24 Northwestern on Saturday, dropping to 2-5. Sources around the program in Piscataway have told On3 that Greg Schiano is on the hot seat and real conversations about his future have begun,” Pete Nakos wrote.
Rutgers has had a disaster of a season. The Scarlet Knights started the year with a loss to UMass. Things haven't improved since then.
“Still, the program is 3-10 in Big Ten play in the last two seasons. Athletic director Keli Zinn, who is a year into the job, will have to make a decision on the future of the program in the coming weeks,” Nakos wrote.
Rutgers is not an easy place to win. Schiano has been the most successful head coach there in many years. He is in his second stint at Rutgers.
“Schiano has done so much to build up the program in his two stints, and he’s had far from the top NIL resources to work with in the conference,” Nakos wrote.
Rutgers has just one conference victory this season in the Big Ten. That was a victory earlier this year against Maryland. Schiano held nothing back after his team lost to Northwestern Saturday.
