The Seattle Seahawks recently opted to shake things up by swinging a trade for Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson of the Indianapolis Colts, giving up draft compensation in return. The move comes just days after the Seahawks bounced back into the win column with an impressive home win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

One person who is excited about the news is former Seahawks quarterback and Super Bowl champ Russell Wilson.

“I think it helps Sam Darnold … allows him to play-action it and throw the ball down the field to the best receiver in the NFL in JSN,” he said, per NFL on CBS on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, the trade for Nelson figures to open up the playbook on offense around Darnold, and the Seahawks will only get better on that side of the ball once running back Zach Charbonnet returns from the torn ACL injury he suffered in last year's playoffs.

Darnold's play has been arguably the biggest concern for Seattle so far this year, as the quarterback looked particularly listless in a recent road loss against the Denver Broncos. However, he started to play better on Sunday against the Chiefs, and now that he has one of the NFL's best offensive linemen of the last decade coming in to help protect him, those numbers should only continue to improve.

It remains to be seen whether the Seahawks will look to make any other big moves on the trade market before the deadline, but they certainly got considerably better on Tuesday.

The Seahawks will next hit the field on Monday for a tough home game against the Chicago Bears in primetime.
