Ahead of Kevin Durant's second season with the Houston Rockets, he was asked about San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama's recent comments about sports gambling. Durant agreed to a $90 million contract with the Rockets last year, keeping him secured with the team for at least two seasons, including 2026-27. However, Kevin's current deal with FanDuel resurfaced after Wembanyama's strong stance on refusing to ever endorse a sports gambling company.
Durant responded to Wembanyama's recent comments amid media availability at Rockets training camp, per The Athletic's Will Guillory.
“That's Wemby. He's going to do what he does. That has nothing to do with me,” Durant said. “I don't even think about that question. It's not really on my mind as much as his. People are going to do what they want to do.”
Rockets' Kevin Durant talked about what he considers before endorsing a particular product or business.
“It's about what's authentic to me,” Durant added. “That's really what it is. I try to partner with people who kind of align with my day-to-day vision on stuff. Some partners you're going to be with a long time; some you aren't. That's just the nature of the business.”

Durant has been an ambassador and paid spokesman for FanDuel, the exclusive sports betting, fantasy, casino, and odds provider company since 2022.
Spurs' Victor Wembanyama says he's disappointed in NBA players like Durant who chose to align with sports-betting companies.
“I will never do that. Honestly, I think it's very sad to see some players promote it, in my opinion. Everybody does whatever they want without me,” Wembanyama said. “In the past, there was a dimension of money in the past, but not anymore,” Wembanyama said. “Even if I say that, I've refused plenty, much, much more money that I've made for things that were not to my values. And now I want to promote things that have a good impact, have a good influence in the world, with who I can share messages with and values.”

Under the NBA's current Collective Bargaining Agreement, Durant's endorsement is permitted as a spokesman who doesn't promote wagering on specific games.
