After losing to the Las Vegas Aces in Game 3 of their first-round playoff matchup, could Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham be done in the WNBA?

Some think so. John Rocha didn't hold back when responding to her video mocking A'ja Wilson before Game 3, after her heated interaction with a fan who pointed at her. Cunningham only had five points and a -18 +/- in the Game 3 loss. Meanwhile, Wilson scored over 30 points.

“Sophie is a bench player averaging 7 points a game. She pulls this before a critical Game 3 IN VEGAS??? Giving bulletin board material to a 4 time MVP is some dumb s**t to do,” he wrote. “I’m a Caitlin Clark fan and the Fever need to kick this MAGA dummy off the team if they ever expect to win anything. This kinda s**t might drive AB [Aliyah Boston] and Kelsey [Mitchell] off the team too. Maybe they’ll dump Sophie in the offseason if they get destroyed tonight.”

One fan responded to Rocha's post, saying, “It sells, and she has enough game to make it sell the league.” He responded, “Does she tho?”

Another X user was adamant that she was done playing professional basketball in the WNBA, writing, “Unfortunately for MAGA FC Sophie Cunningham has played her last WNBA game.” Someone responded to that post, quipping, “Future 1st overall draft pick to Fox News.”

Cunningham is only 30 years old and just finished her eighth year in the league. Whether or not she's done in the WNBA comes down to whether a team wants the polarizing figure on their roster. She was constantly in the news this season for her comments about transgender athletes.

She re-signed with the Fever on a one-year deal during the 2026 offseason. Her numbers were slightly down from 2025. She played in 13 more games in 2026, but she averaged 7.9 points per game (down from her 8.6 average last season).
