NBA training camp is in full swing and one Houston Rockets player is in danger of losing his job. Star forward Kevin Durant has worked to build a rapport with rising star Amen Thompson, who just signed a long-term deal to stay in Houston.
Durant has his sights set on a playoff run with the Rockets this season, but he's also thinking about a potential football career according to comments made in jest recently.
“Yeah man, they've been showing me some love for my technique, man,” Durant said to reporter Michael Shapiro about Texas Longhorns fans, in front of whom he showed off his football tossing skills during Texas' win over Ohio State.

Durant shrugged off possible retirement plans after turning 38 years old in late September. He averaged 26 points per game last season and is the focal point of a rising contender in a stacked and exciting Western Conference. The Rockets' big four of Durant, Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson and Jabari Smith Jr. is as good as any in the league heading into the 2025-26 season and is increasingly being flanked by rising young players including Reed Sheppard and Tari Eason.
Durant averaged 4.8 assists last season, showing his passing skills go far beyond the football field, complementing his all-world scoring skills. His offseason workouts with Magic star Paolo Banchero show that Durant is continuing to master his craft ahead of what could be a special season in Clutch City.
