The ankle injury that knocked Commanders wide receiver Jaylin Lane out of Sunday’s loss to the Colts in Europe is reportedly just as severe as it appeared to be on the field.
Lane was carted off the field and ruled out almost immediately after being injured while returning a punt in the third quarter. Lane remained in London on Sunday night for further evaluation and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that he sustained both a fracture and a dislocation.
Those injuries have been stabilized and Lane is having more tests done before he will return to the United States. The injury is likely a season-ending one for the 2025 fourth-round pick.
Lane had two catches for 25 yards, but was playing a bigger role in the return game. He returned a pair of punts for touchdowns as a rookie, but it looks like he will have to wait until 2027 for a shot at adding to that total.
