Coach Jesse Minter's Baltimore Ravens added a quarterback this week and are 4-4 on the season heading into November 4's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at home. Lamar Jackson's time with the team could be coming to an end according to an NFL insider as the Ravens shuffle players in and out of the lineup, including kicker Tyler Loop.

Loop was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury according to Ari Meirov, who shared comments from Minter on the situation.

“Tyler has been dealing with something, potentially may go on IR, dealing with a bit of an injury, so we'll see how that shakes out,” the Ravens coach said.

Kicker Jake Moody is expected to take over for Loop, who has been a central figure in numerous close games this season. Moody kicked for Minter's former college team, the Michigan Wolverines, whom he led to a national championship in 2023-24 as defensive coordinator.

Moody last kicked in the NFL with the Washington Commanders in 2025-26, where he made 10-of-11 field goals with a long of 56 yards. He also made 10-of-11 extra points that season.

The Ravens have bigger problems with Tyler Huntley and Jackson ailing heading into their Thursday night showdown. Joe Fagnano was their top QB in Week 8, but threw for 91 yards and an interception as the Ravens were blown out by Buffalo.

Moody has the talent to become one of the NFL's better kickers, which he's been honing since entering the league out of the Wolverine State. The Minter era is off to a rocky start, and there is a growing feeling that things might have to get worse before they get better.
