The Bears had an almost perfect drive to open Monday Night Football.
After the Bears forced the Seahawks to go three-and-out, Michael Dickson had a punt downed inside the 5-yard line only to have Rodney Thomas inexplicably slide into the ball and into the end zone for a touchback. The Bears then went 80 yards in 17 plays.
It was the most plays the Seahawks have allowed on a drive this season.
The drive lasted 8 minutes and 32 seconds, the Bears’ 11th drive of 5-plus minutes this season.
The Bears were 3-of-4 on third down and converted a fourth-and-1 on D’Andre Swift’s 5-yard run from their own 49.
Luther Burden scored the touchdown on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Williams, who was 8-of-10 for 58 yards.
Burden had four catches for 23 yards and tight end Colston Loveland three catches for 27 yards.
The Bears lead 7-0.
