The Baltimore Ravens are 4-3 on the campaign after suffering a 35-13 Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. It was an ugly outing for the team, especially for the defense, as they got lit up by Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins. On Monday, the franchise made a move to improve the depth of the safety position by acquiring a former Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns player.
Reports indicate that Rayshawn Jenkins is signing with Baltimore, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Jenkins is an experienced safety with plenty of playing time under his belt to help the Ravens' secondary.
“Sources: The Ravens are signing veteran safety Rayshawn Jenkins,” Schultz reported. “The 10-year veteran has started 93 career games and brings much-needed depth to Baltimore’s secondary.”
The 32-year-old entered the NFL in 2017 as a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers. He's appeared in 145 total games (93 starts), playing for the Chargers, Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Browns, and most recently, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, he was released after the Steelers' 26-19 Week 6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as regular starting safety DeShon Elliott returned from the IR. Jenkins joins the Ravens with 578 combined tackles (373 solo), 5.5 sacks, 11 interceptions, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries recorded throughout his career.
As of now, exactly how much playing time Jenkins gets in Baltimore is unknown. However, after watching the Ravens allow Joe Burrow to throw for 294 yards and four touchdowns to four different wide receivers, the secondary likely appreciates some veteran leadership moving forward.
