Well, it's safe to say Pat McAfee did not enjoy his visit to the University of Utah for the October 24 edition of College GameDay.

Why? Well, on his namesake ESPN show, McAfee unloaded the clip on the university, their students, and especially their social media admins, accusing the school of making fun of him before helping to promote them on television.

“This college football season, did not enjoy the University of Utah. Did not enjoy it,” McAfee said. “You know why I didn't like it mostly? Right before I go out there, right before I go out there, I see the University of Utah's Instagram page. The university, this is how we are. They put out a video, keep doing impressions of Pat McAfee. And one kid goes, ‘Oh, he's corny.’ Another kid calls me creepy. If these kids would have done this on their own blogs, all good. I mean, everybody's taking shots at me anyways for everything. I get it.

“If the two ladies that were hosting that put that out on their own blog, I'd be OK with it. Hey, you're allowed to do what you want. The university puts that out? Like, as I'm about to go out and do an infomercial for the place, and then I'm walking in front of thousands of these people, this is how the university feels about it? That's an uncomfortable feeling.”

Spicy stuff, right? The New York Times attacking McAfee? Sure, he gets it, but the Utes? That got McAfee heated, evoking Charlie Kirk as a reason to avoid such public attacks.

“I'm like, I'm getting a lot of shrapnel from a lot of places. The university is putting this out? That is something I just had never experienced, really, in my entire life. So it kind of set me off a little bit. It made me feel a little bit weird, I would say. Made me feel a little bit weird,” McAfee said.

“And then I thought to myself, has anything really scary happened at a college gathering in the state of Utah recently? Like, do we think we should be amplifying reasons for why people hate my guts as a university? I don't know. So it was a lot of mixed feelings for me going out there. And then, obviously, the kicker goes, only $1 million? Only $1 million? It's like, ‘All right, I hate this place. I hate this place.'”

Fortunately for McAfee, Utah will almost certainly not host another edition of College GameDay as the season winds down. But if they somehow make a playoff run and a date gets booked in early 2027, the former All-Pro kicker already has a plan: to fake COVID to avoid another trip to Salt Lake City.
