The Las Vegas Raiders were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL at the start of the 2026 season, racing out to a 3-0 record in their first season under new had coach Klint Kubiak. Since then, however, the Raiders have lost four games in a row and their playoff hopes are quickly slipping away.
The trade deadline is just over two weeks away, and buzz is heating up surrounding star edge rusher Maxx Crosby as someone who may be moved as the Raiders fall out of the playoff race. However, the talks around Crosby are dying down with just a few weeks to go, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

“The issue there is, he means so much to that franchise,” Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show. “He was the one who was forcing the issue in the offseason. He was the one who wanted to be traded. Initially, the Raiders balked, and then they found two 1s. I just don't think they're getting that back now. He's an unbelievable player, I just don't think they're getting two 1s. And so maybe it just makes sense to hold onto him.
“They're 3-4. If they can find a way to win the Jets game on Sunday, they're 4-4. You don't wanna sell off the heart and soul of your team, the face of your franchise. You don't wanna do that. And I don't know that anybody would give up enough to make it happen. So I don't rule out anything, but the trade talks surrounding Maxx Crosby have lost a little bit of steam.”
Article Continues BelowCrosby was initially traded this offseason in a blockbuster deal to the Baltimore Ravens, but a failed physical called the deal off and Baltimore signed Trey Hendrickson instead.
Crosby's production has been down this season. In seven games, he has 18 tackles and just two sacks to go with three tackles for loss as the Raiders have struggled to stop some of the better offenses on their schedule. If Las Vegas wants to get back in the playoff race, he will have to get back to his best.
