Three coaches have already been fired this year in college football, including Dave Aranda, who was fired by Baylor. Aranda was fired on Saturday after Baylor fell to Kansas.
As the media starts compiling the list of potential candidates who could be a fit for the job, one media personality, Robert Griffin III, has expressed his interest in the head coaching job, per Nick Schultz of On3.
“Yes, 100%,” Griffin said, appearing on The Dan Patrick Show. “If Baylor wants to get back to winning and have a university that isn’t just respectable on the football field, but the fans can be proud of, they need people who know what it looks like to win at Baylor. So yeah, I would 100% be interested. I talked with the athletic director, who is a guy in Doug McNamee that knows what it looks like to win at Baylor, know how you have to win at Baylor and recruit to Baylor to make those things happen.”
RGIII spent four seasons at Baylor, beginning in 2008. In that time, he appeared in 41 games, starting 40 of them, while also passing for 10,366 yards and 78 touchdowns. He also ran for another 2,254 yards and 33 touchdowns. He would win the Heisman Trophy in 2011 and go on to be selected second overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. Now, he is looking to take over as the head coach of Baylor.
Griffin also understands there are other candidates and mentioned them as well.

I also think Jeff Traylor at UTSA is a great option. A dark horse would be Lincoln Riley from USC. I know he’s got his experiences at Oklahoma and obviously, what’s going on at USC right now.”
Griffin is not the only former quarterback being mentioned as a possible head coach for one of the open jobs. Philip Rivers is being mentioned as a potential candidate for the NC State job after Dave Doren was fired.
