On Saturday evening, the Texas football program got back into the win column with a much-needed home victory over the Ole Miss Rebels. This performance wasn't exactly the most consistent, as the Longhorns blew a big lead before hanging on in the end, but the vibes are certainly much higher in Austin now after defeating one of the top teams in the country.
Up next for the Longhorns is a home game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, a team that they beat handily last year in a game in which quarterback Arch Manning went down with a concussion.
He recently referenced that when speaking about the upcoming rematch.
“I remember I got knocked out. I don't remember anything. No, I'm just kidding,” he said, per Tyler Horka of Inside Texas on X, formerly Twitter.
Indeed, it was a scary scene when Manning went down against the Bulldogs last year, but thankfully, it didn't end up being anything that kept him out over the long haul.

While the Texas offense still has some things to work on after going largely stagnant in the second half, it was still a strong overall performance against an elite Ole Miss squad.
In any case, Manning and the Longhorns are slated to hit the field at home against Mississippi State on Halloween afternoon at 12:45 pm ET.
