The Las Vegas Raiders got some concerning injury news, but they’re still 2-0 despite not having Brock Bowers. And head coach Klint Kubiak made his opinion on Kirk Cousins clear after the Raiders' win over the Chargers.

Kubiak said Cousins is doing what he needs to do, according to a post on X by Vegas Sports Today.

“Kubiak said: ‘He wants to win, that’s why he’s here. That throw he made inside of 2 minutes to Tre, that was a big-time throw.’ Kubiak praises Kirk Cousins’ toughness after saying, ‘he got hit too much,' after re-assessing the team’s 26-14 win over the Chargers.’ ”

Cousins connected on 19 of 29 attempts for 253 yards with three touchdown passes and one interception.

Raiders QB Kirk Cousins off to a good start

In two games, Cousins has thrown six touchdown passes. He’s doing plenty to keep rookie Fernando Mendoza waiting in the wings. Cousins said he’s in the building process, according to ESPN.

“It's still early, but the goal is to build something that way outlasts me,” said Cousins.

Kubiak said Cousins has been aggressive. And that makes a difference for the offense.

“[Cousins] did a really good job of pushing the ball down the field,” Kubiak said. “Our playmakers, like Tre (Tucker), made some really big plays. It's something you're always trying to do every weekend.

“He's been phenomenal with the operations and leadership. I can't say enough great things about No. 8.”

Tucker called Cousins a top-notch quarterback.

“He's elite, man,” Tucker said. “I'm so excited to play with him. He does not look any bit old to me, and the things I see him doing in practice, he's doing in the games.”

Whether the Raiders can maintain their hot start remains to be seen. But they’ve exceeded expectations through two weeks. And Cousins has been front and center for them. The Raiders will have a chance to get to 3-0 when they travel to face the Saints. But the schedule gets tougher after that.
