Coach Klint Kubiak's Las Vegas Raiders stunned the NFL world with a Week 2 road win at Jim Harbaugh's Chargers that included an unfortunate late injury to running back Ashton Jeanty. The day also included a positive injury update on star tight end Brock Bowers.

After the game, it was announced that Kubiak's second win in two tries placed him in elite company among Raiders coaches alongside John Madden and Bill Callahan.

“Klint Kubiak is now just the fourth head coach in Raiders history (excluding interims) to win both of their first two games with the team, joining Al Davis (1963), John Madden (1969), and Bill Callahan (2002),” the Raiders' PR account wrote.

The Raiders have been gearing up for a big fall season, making Brock Bowers inspired roster moves leading into Week 2's game and putting extra emphasis on the passing game as new starting QB Kirk Cousins gets acclimated to life with Kubiak's team.

Cousins responded with a big day against the Chargers, completing 19-of-29 passes for 253 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. He outdueled Chargers star Justin Herbert, who was intercepted twice by a stout Raiders defense.

The race for Super Bowl LXI looks more wide open than any pundit imagined to start the 2026-27 season and the Raiders are now looking like a team to watch after their big win over Harbaugh's Chargers. Jeanty's injury struggles will be another developing story to keep an eye on going forward, but it's safe to say that Las Vegas has the attention of the rest of the NFL after Kubiak's history-making win with a road trip to the Saints up for September 27.
