Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler reached 2,000 career strikeouts Tuesday night during a 6-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Citizens Bank Park. Wheeler entered the game needing three strikeouts and reached the milestone by fanning Brice Turang to complete a strikeout of the side in the first inning.

The achievement made Wheeler the 96th pitcher in MLB history to reach 2,000 strikeouts, adding another milestone to his career during Philadelphia’s late-season playoff push. SportsRadio 94WIP’s Dave Uram shared a postgame video on X, formerly Twitter, of the longtime Phillies starter reflecting on reaching a mark he never expected early in his career.

“Yeah, I did know that, and I mean, it's really cool, special. You know, some of the guys ask me in here, you know, what you ever thought. The answer is no.”
