The Philadelphia Phillies suffered a 5-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves in the first contest of the Wild Card series to kick off the playoffs. However, the first five frames proved to be a strong outing for Jesus Luzardo, as his performance earned him a huge shoutout from a popular baseball podcast.

“Talkin' Baseball” was impressed with the 28-year-old left-hander's game. Especially considering Luzardo had minimal playing time entering the postseason due to a left shoulder injury. He finished his day with six strikeouts while allowing three hits, one walk, and an earned run through five innings of work.

“Jesus Luzardo was great in Game 1,” the podcast said on X. “He had just pitched an inning two days ago after returning from 20 days on the injured list.”

Although the former third-round pick played well on Tuesday, the Phillies just couldn't fend off the Braves in the back end of the game. After Luzardo was taken off the mound, Atlanta scored a run in the bottom of the sixth, then thanks to a clutch Austin Riley home run, scored three more runs in the bottom of the eighth.
